Bonnie and Wild – A Part-Time Seafood and Game Restaurant

One of the reasons I love the food industry so much, is the recent explosion of new and exciting food ventures. Like pop-up restaurants using new spaces, new chefs trying their hands at secret suppers and new producers selling at their local markets have all created new experiences for the customer. Personally, this is a huge draw for me is, as I am also looking for my niche in the food industry. So when I got asked to review the part-time seafood and game restaurant Bonnie and Wild, I jumped at the chance.

Whitecross Street Market – Great Street food in London

If you are in need of some great street food, you should head down to Whitecross street market, off Old Street, opposite St Luke’s Church in the City of London. It serves a great variety of fresh and tasty street food.

Wandering between a mix of city folk and trendy Shoreditch peeps, between “tat” stalls and the odd fruit and veg stall you will find some cracking food stalls. I have been going here for a few years now and most of the food has been amazing. Let me help to lead you to the best food the market has to offer.

Inspiration

Inspired by Niamh aka Eat Like a Girl who ran a market stall at Covent Garden Real Food Market and Abiye who sells what has to be London’s best hotdogs at BigAppleHotDogs, I decided to start a market stall at Red Market in Shoreditch.

After much deliberation the choice was made to start The Shoreditch Smoker – to smoke all kinds of meat and fish.

Based in between Old street and Rivington street in Shoreditch, Red Market opens on Fridays and Saturdays from midday to midnight.

BurgerMonday Lionel Lévy Pop-Up

Recently I got to experience a Burger Monday Pop Up! Now these events are hard to get tickets for as they are so popular. Even my hardcore burger friends can’t get a seat! Luckily my random checking of Twitter found the link to buying tickets within an hour of them going on sale! Success!

My First Week at the English Pig

Due to the success of Stokey Secret Suppers over the last year, I felt it was time to move into the world of food – full time! So I handed my notice in at my job in the city and I approached Johnnie Mountain (From Great British Menu fame!) who runs The English Pig restaurant in the City of London and told him my secret supper story, my ambitions to run some sort of dining establishment and how I wanted to gain restaurant experience – To my delight he said he would give me some work in his kitchen and teach me all I need to know!
